Bye!

My name is Romina Ciribilli, I am a Mathematics teacher with a keen curiosity towards the world around me and with a great dream: to make as many people as possible passionate about the science of science, Mathematics .

My story

How is it that the desire to become passionate about this gloomy and difficult discipline by definition was born in me?

Certainly the very first experiences as a teacher influenced. In fact, I was called to teach mathematics, physics and computer science everywhere: in professionals, technicians, high schools of all kinds and even in evening schools. This variety of students allowed me to understand how a univocal approach was not possible and how it was necessary to have materials available that were ever closer to the people I wanted to interest. The experiences in certain types of schools have led me to relate to pupils close to dropping out of school or who had already dropped out or in any case totally disinterested, if even frightened by mathematics. This closure and difficulty meant that I repeatedly questioned my approach, methodologies and also, and above all, the tools. For this purpose I created a frightening amount of materials, each time tailored to the students I had to address, but with the common denominator to strip them of the shared alibi according to which mathematics is an insurmountable obstacle for anyone. I have tried to connect the discipline to everyday reality, to literature, to history and to any other science and / or application to dress it of interest in the eyes of my interlocutors. I lowered the bar by making it  approachable by anyone at any level, without denaturing it, but to ensure that I could meet everyone, take them by the hand and lead them wherever I wanted. I have always been convinced that the real goal of a teacher is not to complete a ministerial program, but to set even the most rebellious and unmotivated minds in motion.

This need dictated by experience in the field has been joined by the love I have always nurtured towards knowledge and, specifically, scientific knowledge. I attended the Liceo Scientifico Piano Nazionale Informatica graduating with honors, then in the choice of university faculty I preferred to address myself to the mother of all sciences: mathematics.

After the two-year joint period, I built a curriculum of studies preferring the areas that interested me most, namely information technology and teaching. So I added algorithms, their complexity and programming elements to the history of mathematics. I graduated on February 26 with full marks and honors with an experimental thesis on digital signature, which at the time aroused a lot of interest from the IT companies of the capital, procuring me several job interviews. However,  at the end of each of them I have always rejected the proposals, even if tempting. My interest was already catalyzed by the world of school, in fact in September of the same year I attempted the selection in specialization schools to obtain the qualification in subjects related to my degree. I attended these courses, at the end of which I acquired the specializations for teaching mathematics in all lower and upper secondary schools, physics, computer science and even support activities. At the same time and in the following years, the personal training activity in the teaching sector never had a stop, on the contrary it was always enriched with further elements in order to make my preparation as complete as possible in relation to the challenges that I was and still am. call to face.

New methodologies and new tools have appeared in my toolbox allowing me to always present the contents in a new way and trying to gather as many consensus as possible  among my " audience ". So, now I am here to share with you the fruits of my creativity and the passion that has always crossed my life so that you can appreciate the beauty that this science hides between its lines, if you are not already its admirers. As a reward for my "enormous" work, it will be enough for me to know that it was useful to at least one of you. Only one.
